An engaged French brand
Phi 1.618 was founded by Juliette Angeletti, an artisan in leather goods.
Our bags, belts and accessories are inspired by the beauty of the golden ratio, known since antiquity as the most elegant measure found in nature. All our creations respect this proportion which gives them harmony and a strongaesthetic. Our leather hides are chosen from a selection destined for the greatest French luxury houses and are of exceptional quality.
Our exceptional savoir-faire, "saddlery" tradition, eco-responsible production, and French manufacturing forge the spirit of the house.
Our Parisian boutique is a showcase for our models inspired by the perfection of the golden ratio.
The singularity of the Maison Phi 1.618 confers elegance and timelessness.
The golden ratio
The golden ratio is the cornerstone of the Phi 1.618 house.
Naturally present in nature and used by man for centuries, this "divine proportion" is the key to an aesthetic that is both harmonious and timeless.
This number is our source of inspiration for the creation of each of our fine leather goods. That is why we have chosen to name our house after it.
This proportion is represented by the Greek letter φ (pronounced "Phi") and its rounded value is 1.618.
The excellence of French know-how
The savoir-faire of Phi 1.618 is illustrated in creations that are as aesthetic as they are exceptional, combining craftsmanship and exceptional techniques inherited from the tradition of fine leather goods. To this heritage is added the use of remarkable and durable materials.
The Phi 1.618 models are made in the workshops of French craftsmen. Our finishes are in the rarest of "saddlery" traditions: a groove marked 2mm from the edge, oblique stitching and stained edges, heated and sanded several times to ensure an ideal and durable finish.
Responsibility is at the heart of our approach, with consideration for our craftsmen and their traditional know-how, our customers and the planet.
"I have always enjoyed a balance between intellectual and manual creation."
Juliette Angeletti
A creative artisan
Phi 1.618 is the story of Juliette Angeletti.
A great-grandfather who was a jeweler to Tsar Nicholas 2 and the latter's father, a watchmaker to the Tsar, anchor her in this line of craftsmen.
At the side of a Master of Art leatherworker, she acquired the highest level of French savoir-faire in leatherwork and became an Artisan d'art. Passionate about art, she draws her inspiration from the natural and universal beauty that surrounds us, and more particularly from the golden ratio Phi, whose value is 1.618.
Phi 1.618 was born from his desire to create pieces inspired by the harmony of the golden ratio, with a unique aesthetic, a rare quality and an eco-responsible French production.
